My Book ‘Soft Skills Hard Results’, an update

I’m procrastinating on it which isn’t helping me make my publication target of later this year.

I received the editor and book coach’s comments to my first manuscript over a month ago. It took me more than 2 weeks to read the feedback. According to an editor friend of mine their comments sounded like “mere tweaks” if they didn’t say the whole direction needed to change! And the comments didn’t feel like tweaks. They were constructive, very reasonable and still feel like a lot of work. Essentially I have to knit the chapters together more rather than having them be so isolated from each other and create more of a flow within each chapter (the old: tell them what you’re going to tell them, tell them, and then tell them what you just told them).

To spur me on I reached out to a few people who know the target audience asking them to be beta readers and a couple said YES! So I’ve told them (promised might be too strong a word) I will get them a revised draft in 6 weeks. That has given me a deadline, created accountability and gotten me out of myself and focused on the end users’ needs.

I’ve now escalated my accountability to all of you.

So expect an update in May’s newsletter!

What project(s) are you procrastinating about that would benefit from external accountability?
