What do you want for 2017?
If you’re following on from the ‘Completion Of 2016’ article in last month’s newsletter, you’re now in a position to take those ideas and learnings forward to create 2017.
Think of the areas in your life that you want to focus on:
- Health/Wellbeing
- Work/Money
- Friends
- Self
- Community
- Physical environment
For each of those areas imagine what you’d like to accomplish, what would success look like at the end of this year, what would make you look back on 2017 and be proud? You can create whatever you want – dream, dare (you aren’t committing to anything yet so don’t limit yourself), think what’s possible.
When you think of each of these areas how do you want to feel at the end of the year? How would you feel if you accomplished the things you dreamed of? How would you feel even making steps towards those things?
Now some people say don’t dream big, you’ll only be disappointed. Disappointed in what? Trying and actually achieving it or tying and not quite making it, but getting more than you ever thought or trying and feeling good that you at least gave it a shot?
So what do you want to achieve? And how do you want to feel? That sets your direction for 2017.
Once you know where you want to go you can create a map to get there, what are some initial steps you could take in each area that move you in the direction you want to go? You’ve gotten stuff done in the past whether it’s delivering a project for work, getting a degree, doing a DIY project at home – you know what to do once you decide to get it done
When you step back and look at the 2017 that you’ve imagined through this exercise what feeling do you have? What are the qualities or characteristics of you in creating that reality? Those few words are your essence for the year, who you are being in the passing of the year and in the creation of your vision.
What possibilities are there for you in 2017?
