New Year resolutions for professionals

Welcome to 2015! I hope you had a wonderful festive break and have come back to work rested and full of vitality for the New Year.

Around this time many of us decide to give up drinking, cut down on the chocolate or to hit the gym more regularly; all of these resolutions are positive and will do wonders for your body and mind, but have you thought about making New Years’ resolutions for your professional life too?

A healthy personal and professional life is the key to a happy mind, so you should make sure to look after all aspects of your life. If you are a working professional in London, take a look at some of my suggestions for New Year’s resolutions for executives, think about what you want to achieve this year, and get going!

Clean up your LinkedIn profile, and keep it updated

When was the last time you updated your LinkedIn profile? Social media is more important in business these days than ever before, so it is important that you keep up to date. In addition to this, having an updated LinkedIn profile means potential employers can see your current skills, and you can ‘link’ to new contacts easily, enabling you to use the platform as a networking device.

Make better use of your talents

Think about what you are good at and what you like to do; does your job allow you to do these things? If not, can you use your skills in a hobby or to volunteer for a good cause? Release those unused talents and you never know where it will take you.

Take more chances

This is the year to take more chances in your professional life. To really move somewhere professionally, you need to take chances and sometimes these can be scary. Even so, take the plunge and take that chance, you will be noticed on the way, and nobody ever regrets trying.

I’d love to hear your new year’s resolutions for 2015, whether they are personal or professional, so let me know in the comments. I hope this has given you a lot to think about over the coming year.
