Happy new year

Happy New Year. All The Best For 2015!

Yes, you read it right, that isn’t a typo. Fast forward one year. Imagine yourself 1 year from now – all the way through 2014 to New Year’s Day 2015. This is not about New Year’s Resolutions. The majority of resolutions are about giving up things (coming from a point of scarcity, not abundance); ignoring what you do right and what is going well (and focusing on what’s wrong); and goes by the wayside within a month so leaves you feeling defeated.

This is about consciously creating what you want for yourself – building on what you do well, who you are when you are at your best and looking for the possibilities for growth and joy. Maybe bringing to life an ambition or dream or hope you’ve have.

Instead of what to give up in January 2014, how do you want to feel at the end of 2014? Another way to think of it is what thrills you? Examples are happy, joyful, productive, successful (what does that mean exactly?), adventurous, confident, content, loving, proud… It doesn’t just have to be one thing but not a laundry list of too many that it becomes unfocused. Who do you have to be to feel that way at the end of 2014? This question is about who you are as a human being, not just a human doing. Examples are resilient, determined, energetic, visionary, fun, or engaged. There will probably be some goals/activities that come of this brainstorm as well as some characteristics you want to live more.

What have you learned in 2013 to support you in creating the 2014 you want? This is a bit of reflection on the past year to identify: what worked for you, what is available to you that wasn’t before, and what beliefs or actions would serve you in creating 2014.

What would you like to be celebrating about yourself and your life a year from now? And what attitude and actions would support the creation of 2014?
